Sequential Discount Calculator
Enter discounts applied in sequence to calculate the final unit price and equivalent single discount. I apply each discount to the amount left after the previous one. If you enter unit cost, you can also see the extra sales needed to preserve total profit. A zero or negative margin produces a warning.

How to use it
- 1Enter the original unit price.
- 2Add discounts in sequence.
- 3Enter unit cost to compare required extra sales.
- 4Review final price, equivalent discount and margin warnings.
Example
Discounting 100 by 20% and then 10% gives 72, equivalent to 28% off. At a cost of 44, preserving total profit requires 100% more sales.
Formula and limitations
- Final price = original price × ∏(1 − discount / 100). Equivalent discount = (1 − final / original) × 100.
- Extra sales (%) = ((original price − cost) / (final price − cost) − 1) × 100.
- Unit cost and other costs are assumed constant. Discounts are not added; intermediate amounts are not rounded.
