Frequently asked questions

Does the day difference include the start and end dates?

The day difference is the number of calendar days between the dates (end − start); for example, 1 March to 3 March is 2 days. Add 1 if you want to count both days. Business days, however, include both end dates.

Are public holidays subtracted from business days?

No. The tool excludes only Saturdays and Sundays. National and religious holidays and other days off are not taken into account; subtract them from the result yourself.

How are full months calculated?

Completed calendar months from the start date are counted. From 15 January to 15 March there are 2 full months; from 31 January to 28 February there are 0, because the 31st is not reached.

Do daylight saving time or time zones affect the result?

No. The calculations use calendar days only, without times, so daylight saving changes and time zone differences do not change the day count. 29 February in leap years is handled correctly.

Can I use it for legal deadlines or due dates?

The tool is for quick, informational calculations. For legal deadlines, the rules on holidays and on how the first and last days are counted depend on the applicable law; consult an expert for official matters.
