Frequently asked questions

Why a desktop application when web apps exist?

When you need to work directly with devices such as scales, label printers and barcode readers, keep working through internet outages, or enter data at high speed, a desktop application is still the most robust option. In other cases a web application is usually more practical. I can also build both, so you use the same data from a desktop app and a web panel.

Can you modernize my old VB6 application?

Yes. I first extract the business rules and data structure of the existing application, then move modules to the new platform one by one. Your business keeps running during the transition and users get used to the new screens step by step.

Can scales, printers and barcode readers be connected?

Yes. In desktop applications I integrate scales, print labels on Zebra printers with ZPL, connect barcode and QR readers, and link IoT devices over protocols such as Modbus and MQTT. During discovery I review your device models and connection types to decide which method to use, running a small connection test first if needed.

How are updates distributed to users?

I add an automatic update mechanism so new versions reach users on their own. I set up release pipelines with branch-based automated releases, a versioning standard and rollback. This way you always know which version each user is running, and a problematic release can be rolled back quickly.
